rules & regs
This is a points-based contest open to all USHGA members, with points given for all free flights originating in Arizona in 2008 between March 1st and October 31st. You will collect points for EVERY flight you make. XC flying will get you distance and airtime points. LZ landers will collect airtime points. Driving retrieve for an XC pilot will collect driver points.
:!: Entry fee this year is $35, $39 if you use paypal (to cover the fee they charge us). Your payment will get you an event tee-shirt that we don't know anything about yet. You won't get any points until we've gotten your entry fee and updated your status, so paypal it or send in a check ASAP!
You can pay via paypal (include a comment saying your $39 is for the AZXC09 contest), or a check for $35 to AHGA, PO Box 39013, Phoenix AZ. 85069, or by giving Andy or Merle the money in person. Andy or Merle will mark you as 'paid' here in the contest.
:!: What is an XC flight? For the purpose of this contest: an XC flight is a flight that goes beyond your normal glide slope from launch. If there is any question then Andy Rockhold will decide. Andy's decisions are final.
- XC distance is 'point to point' only!
- Declared tasks, dog-legs, out and back are all fine, but "launch to land" is the distance you record.
- You can fly without a GPS if you want, but if any registered and paid pilot challenges your claim you MUST provide proof of the flight.
- A tracklog is the best form of proof. A photo and witness at your landing site is also acceptable.
:!: What is airtime? This is easy: every minute you are in the air counts towards airtime. If it takes you 3 minutes to hit the bailout then log it as 3 minutes.
- Flights by students in training don't count as airtime, unless you are a rated pilot still working with your instructor.
- If you are towing (stationary or platform) and you know your plan is to "launch and land, repeat" then these flights don't count as airtime.
Register at the link above. It will send you an email with a verification link. Click it, then get ready to log some flights!

Paid my dough, waiting for Merle to take a peek in the tips jar (paypal). Where is the log flights bit?
