I'm a H4 pilot of probably the same age from Minneapolis. I lived and learned to fly in Oregon in the early 70's and the west is indeed the ultimate flying. Now there is a proposal to the BLM in southern Utah for a new launch near Cedar City called Silver launch. Len Clements has responded to help, I see. I greatly enjoyed reading it and just wanted to say thanks to those who opened up this site. I flew a bit with Dan Tierney (as well as Rik Fritz and many other awesome pilots) back in the late 70's, but don't recall if i ever met the rest of those mentioned in the article. I was priviledged to fly Mt. Eldon many times back in the late 70's, with my first 2 lauches off that sheet of plywood, but never did hear the story (that i can recall) or know who to thank for its existence.
