Hi Guys,
I also went to NAU and had a wonderful time flying with Rik Fritz, Dan Tierney,Tony Villalpondo, Bob Buxton, Bruce Jonasson, Brian Hill, Danial Shaw, Phil Paris, Randy Weekley, Gary Weisner and many other great friend. Its great to read about all the pilots still flying in AZ (Just back from a 2 hr flight at my home in WA.).
Eldon was one of my favorite places to fly. (by the way Chuck, I also had Dr. Willis for Phyziscs and can't imagine him flying a hang glider...must have been great.) Hope to see you guys out flying sometime!!

Great story! I'm a H4 pilot of probably the same age from Minneapolis. I lived and learned to fly in Oregon in the early 70's and the west is indeed the ultimate flying. Now there is a proposal to the BLM in southern Utah for a new launch near Cedar City called Silver launch. Len Clements has responded to help, I see. What a blast to be trailblazers of new launches.

Thanks so much for posting this article. I greatly enjoyed reading it and just wanted to say thanks to those who opened up this site. I flew a bit with Dan Tierney (as well as Rik Fritz and many other awesome pilots) back in the late 70's, but don't recall if i ever met the rest of those mentioned in the article. I was priviledged to fly Mt. Eldon many times back in the late 70's, with my first 2 lauches off that sheet of plywood, but never did hear the story (that i can recall) or know who to thank for its existence. So thanks again and ...
Enjoy ...
